Modernisation of the Volvo Financial Services office in Młochów near Warsaw

Volvo Trucks Poland is continuing to revitalise its headquarters in Młochów, near Warsaw, using furniture, equipment, and solutions supplied by Kinnarps during several years of cooperation.

The refurbishment included an office space for Volvo Financial Services with areas for quiet work and relaxation, a bistro used by all employees and an entrance area with conference space.

"We wanted to respond to the new needs of the company and its employees by modernising the workspace, making minor functional changes, and refreshing the company's image in the entrance area."

Izabela Sylwia Nowak, architect

Three objectives of the modernisation

The transformation of the space had three important objectives. Firstly, it was a matter of raising the standard of the employees' offices in the Volvo Financial Services organisation, as well as adapting the functional division of space and office arrangement to the new organisational chart, and also providing areas for quiet work, relaxation and informal meetings.

Another task was to change the character of the canteen to make it a more inclusive place, in response to the need to strengthen bonds among staff and encourage collaboration, so that in its new guise the office becomes a comfortable, friendly place where people want to come and where they feel good.

The third objective of the refurbishment of the Volvo Trucks Poland office was to reuse existing furniture in the spirit of circularity. In the entrance area of the meeting rooms, long-standing Kinnarps furniture was used and refreshed with new upholstery. This has produced a delightful result, as confirmed by both Monika Ślęzak, General Services & Wellbeing Manager at Volvo Trucks Poland, and architect Izabela Sylwia Nowak, who has been designing workspaces for Volvo Trucks in Poland and abroad for more than a dozen years.

Smooth implementation in the spirit of circularity

Work on the project began in the summer, and implementation was completed before the end of the year, in December. Everything went according to the schedule, and the cooperation with Kinnarps was, as usual, efficient and professional, from the support in selecting the ideal furnishings to the quick installation during the pre-Christmas rush.

Many of the existing design elements have been refurbished so that they can be used again. Their appearance and functions have been transformed with new finishes, and the interiors have been painted and refreshed with interesting wallpaper patterns.

"Kinnarps products are very durable. However, there are times when, after a few years, the need arises to change the colour scheme or material, for example, because the space needs to be rearranged. I very much appreciate the fact that Kinnarps is open to the efficient replacement of, for example, upholstery of chairs that are several years old or table tops. This is a very flexible and sustainable approach to design and use. In my opinion, it is important that the approach to design is also sustainable."

Fendo meeting chairs provide the comfort of an armchair while being flexible. A decorative gap in the backrest gives the chair a modern look.

The multifunctional Vagabond table can be used as a meeting table, desk, or even in a café or canteen. When combined with Motus stools, it creates a flexible space that encourages collaboration.

The Apollo armchair, thanks to its high backrest, promotes relaxation and calm. The automatic return swivel function helps to maintain order in the room.

The end result is impressive

Modern, timeless office interiors have been created with cosy atmospheres that provide comfortable meeting places and ergonomic workspaces, thanks to desks with electric height adjustment. All the objectives of the modernisation have been met. Firstly, there has been an improvement in working conditions and comfort, and it has also been possible to increase the amount of space. Secondly, inclusive elements have emerged. Thirdly, the project used existing furniture, which, after being refurbished and reupholstered, has been given a second life in the spirit of sustainability and respect for the environment. To emphasise this approach, the interior design features motifs and colours inspired by nature.

"What I am most pleased about is the satisfaction of the users, because it is them for whom all the measures to improve and make work more pleasant are carried out."

Monika Ślęzak, General Services & Wellbeing Manager at Volvo Trucks Poland
