The classrooms of the future

In discussions and research concerning office environments, people often talk about how the environment around us influences the way we feel and the way we perform. The same also applies, of course, to the classroom, and we want to give our children and young people the best possible opportunities for learning, developing and growing. So it's important to discuss the various educational environments in today's schools, and which of them we would like to see more of in the future.

Every time the pupils enter a room at school they are influenced by the shape, interior design and decoration of the room. The look of the classroom influences their perception of what is expected of them: what they should do and how they should do it. How we design and decorate the educational environments in our schools is therefore of the greatest importance. The furniture should support the teaching, enable an active way of learning and make it easy to modify the room to suit different tasks and needs.

We brought together pupils, principals, architects, teachers, physiotherapists, product developers and designers to discuss how they see the school of the future. We believe it is where different perceptions, experiences and fields of knowledge meet that the educational spaces of the future will be found. On the basis of our own experience, the currently available research into learning environments, and the curiosity and enthusiasm of those who are active in the world of education, we can create learning environments that meet the requirements of the school of the future.
