Client: Aalto University Executive Education, Helsinki.
Extensions Semma and Domma. 47 mobile workplaces, 21 fixed workplaces

OBJECTIVE

Aalto EE wanted a space for rich and lively interaction. The interior design project aimed at achieving cosiness similar to the previously renovated second floor office space: a combination of multi-space working environment and personalised workplaces.

Key factors included good work ergonomics and overall lightness and brightness, which would leave ample wall space for the artwork planned for the premises.

SOLUTION

The theme for the interior design proposal was Activity Based Work, where the space was divided in three areas: shared workplaces, personal workplaces and negotiation spaces, completed with spaces for retreat, quiet rooms and pop-in workplaces.

Work places are scattered across the spaces, spiced up by colourful works of art. Covered in Aalto EE's bright turquoise, the acoustic room dividers absorb noise effectively and allow undisturbed work.

Whatever the task, there's space for quiet concentration, hectic project work or brainstorming, which benefits from relaxed mood and unconventional environment. Furniture: Series[P] tables, Series[n] desks, Series[e] cabinets (POC storage unit), Plus task chairs, groups of Aeon easy chairs, Ava, semi-high Plints for negotiating, Monolite sofa groups with high back.
