KIC InnoEnergy SE is a European company that supports innovation, company creation and production of sustainable forms of energy. Set up in 2010 by a broad alliance of actors in the field of energy in Europe, KIC InnoEnergy invests in high-potential start-ups, and finances technological innovation, in order to ensure that Europe is globally competitive in renewable energies.
KIC InnoEnergy is involved in a sector which has a strong following wind. Expanding rapidly, the company was initially provided with some space by one of its shareholders, before than moving into premises with 350 m2 floor space. But as the team just kept on growing, these premises quickly proved too small. Now with 18 people on board, the company took 750 m2 of office space which then needed to be decorated to match the company's image: young, dynamic and innovative. This was the point where KIC InnoEnergy called on Kinnarps, through its architects.
KIC InnoEnergy SE, with its registered office in the Netherlands, is growing its business through a network of offices in the Benelux, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Sweden and France. KIC InnoEnergy receives financial support from the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT). At its offices in Grenoble, the following products have been installed: Oberon workstations and desks, Plint stools, Monolite sofas, Platon Lite seating units, Le Mur sofas, Rondo seating units, Monolog sofas, Slitz coffee tables, Soon waiting room chairs...
Furniture: Kinnarps, Materia and Skandiform

After spending far too long squeezed into their former premises, these people had had plenty of time to imagine their ideal offices! Acting as an incubator for the start-ups in which they invest, it was also necessary to offer premises where these tender shoots could be given the right start. So there was a double aim: for the KIC InnoEnergy employees: everyone should have their own office, no matter how small! The teams, working in international project mode, are constantly on the phone and holding meetings over Skype.
Impossible to shut yourself off from every phone call! For the start-ups: a large open space to encourage discussions and communication with each other. Also places they can come together to meet, think, be creative or simply find some peace and quiet.
Florence Tissot, in charge of the project for KIC InnoEnergy SE, explains: "In fact, although we could have chosen neutral, classic areas, which may not offend anyone but which, at the end of day, are boring, we chose instead to do the unexpected and play with shades, contrasts and transparency."
In fact, the spaces are very different, animated and lively, and encourage us all to be a bit more inventive! As for the layout: the individual offices have been provided, and there are meeting rooms everywhere! Informal open areas like lounges, for relaxing, shared areas, small enclosed 8-seat meeting rooms, larger ones with 15 seats, a videoconference room and a room for seminars with 40 seats.
The perfect setting for these young start-ups, KIC InnoEnergy's premises prove oh so well how much the company contributes to innovation by every means at its disposal.
