WORKPLACES CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The health secretary Matt hancock uses a standing desk, saying that he finds it boosted his increased his activity levels, and boosted productivity.
Speaking at the International Society for Physical Activity and Health Congress in London in mid October, he said "Workplaces can make a difference; encouraging breaks, offering standing desks, having standing meetings – which in my experience tend to finish quicker to finish. Our message should be that movement is medicine.’
This follows a recent survey published by the British Medical Journal and experts from the University of Leicester, who studied 146 NHS staff and found that sit-stand desks helped to reduce sitting time and improved productivity.
